Americus (GA) Times Recorder, Sept 19, 1896, page 3 paraphrased, gives a lengthy obituary for Major C. A. Huntington. He was a native of Kentucky and lived in Washington Co, Ga and Quincy, Fl. He fought for the Confederacy. (Listed with Veterans in Americus Weekly Recorder, Aug 2, 1889 p 5 also). He was married in 1871. Major Huntington was a very prominent man of Sumter County. When he died, he was president of the Sheffield-Huntington Company, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, on the board of the Police Commission, on the Board of Education, and on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Southwestern Georgia. He is survived by his wife, a son, Charles A. Huntington, and daughter, Miss Helen Huntington.
