Cannie owned a dry goods store (brick building), a hotel and "Tiger Springs" - a little attraction on Tiger Creek.

On the 7th of April, 1879, Cannie assumed the guardianship of Emily Rachels, orphan of Alfred Rachels. Order filed in Washington County.
