Mr. Whitaker died Thursday afternoon in the Cushing Care Center.
The native of Nacogdoches County was born March 10, 1895 and had lived most of his life at Reklaw. He was a member of the Reklaw Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and was a retired farmer. He was married to Martha Mason Whitaker, who proceeded him in death.
He is survived by three sons, Marvin Whitaker of Shepherd, James Edward Whitaker of Houston, and Clifford Whitaker of Reklaw; one daughter, Mrs Grover Mayo of Jacksonville; five sisters, Mrs Lillie Jacobs of Reklaw, Mrs Liddie Ward of Austin, Mrs Laura Medford of Texas City, Mrs Elsie Nichols and Mrs Alfred Musch both of Cushing; 12 grand children and 18 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Whitley-Holsomback Funeral Home in Cushing will be in charge of arrangements.
