This is my grandpa's father, my great-grandfather. My aunt told me he called all the girls "daughter," even his grand-daughters! I wish I had known him.

Alfred Baehler, 95, a retired farmer who had been a resident of Van Wert County since 1921, died at 6:15 PM Friday, June 11, 1954 at his residence 4 miles west of Convoy, Ohio.
Death was caused by complications of a 6 month illness. Mr. Baehler was born in Switzerland on May 24, 1859. His wife, the former Elizabeth Hanni, preceeded him in death in 1910.
Eight children survive: Minnie Ehlers, Cullom, IL, Bertha Lare, Ft. Wayne, IN, Cora Winnie, Colorado Springs, CO, Lilly Rosendahl, Convoy, OH, Olga Follmer, Pontiac, IL, Fred Baehler, Convoy, OH, Walter Baehler, Saunemin, IL, and Harold Baehler, Ft. Wayne, IN
Two children, Hulda Frantz and Otto Baehler are deceased.
He had 26 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral was held in Convoy, Ohio, and funeral services were also held in Illinois. He was brought back to Illinois and laid to rest next to his wife at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Wing.
He lived a long life in Switzerland, then Illinois, and Ohio. He died at age 95! I wish I had known him because I would have lots to ask him!
