Andrew Agustus Bass was born in Saline County, Arkansas on March 2, 1891. He married Effie Deweese, who was born in Boone County, Arkansas on October 6, 1891. Their two children were Helen, who was born in 1913, and Charles, who was born in 1915.
The family moved to Childress, Texas in 1915 from Conway, Arkansas. Mr. Bass was employed with the Fort Worth and Denver Railway Company, He retired on March 1, 1957.
Following retirement, Mr. Bass was active in the Masonic Lodge. As a member of the First United Methodist Church, he served as Steward, President of the Crawford Bible Class, and Chairman of the Commission on Missions
