His record says he was captured by rebel guerrillas at Jacks Creek, TN on 6/20/63 while reportedly visiting his home on a scouting trip. He was most likely imprisoned in Richmond, VA for a short time before exchange as were others captured that day and place. He was killed in his own home on 3/6/64. His wife Lucinda Vandergriff Evans applied for a pension in 1868. Minors Isaac L Evans, et al applied in 1880.
