Darlene A. Ashby, 66, of Kalama passed away Sept. 15, 2009, at the Hospice Care Center.

She was born Jan. 1, 1943, in Longview, to U.O. and Verna May (Madison) Pendington, and lived in the local area most of her life.

Bobby and her husband, Carl, drove truck all over 48 states for Bennett, Bob Lewellen and Container Freight Lines. She also worked in the office of Wind River and Price Trucking, and was a bookkeeper for Mason Auto Mart in Longview. Bobby loved her garden, canning, cooking big meals for her family, sewing, fishing, clamming and her four-legged children, Samantha and Madson.

Bobby is survived by her longtime soulmate, Carl P. Ashby at home; three sons, Jim Jessup of Longview, Ron Mason (Gayle) of Kelso and Carl Ray Ashby (Gale) of Kalama; four daughters, Barbara Ashby and Penny Blaylock (Don), both of Longview, Carol Copeland of Vancouver and Billie Ferguson of Kalama; a brother, Jim Pendington of Longview; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and family members in Texas.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Jean Nicholson and Audrey "Lynn" Johnson.

A potluck celebration of Bobby's life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kelso Eagles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kelso Eagles.
