Joann M. Zilka Shaw was born June 8, 1921. She was a lifetime resident of Joliet and is survived by beloved husband of 57 years, John J. Shaw Sr. She is the loving mother of AnnaMae (Guy) Mitchell and John J. (Monica) Shaw, Jr. She was the dear grandmother of Colleen Mitchell, Holly (Anthony) Frank, Ryan J. Shaw (currently serving with the 822nd M.P. Co. in Iraq), and one great step-granddaughter, Leah Frank. Also surviving is one sister, Margaret Medvesky (Roy deceased) Mull. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by beloved daughter Joan M. Shaw, parents Anna and Stephen Medvesky, sister Tillie Zilka, brothers Tony Zilka, Steven Medvesky, Joseph Medvesky, and Fred Medvesky.
She was a lifetime member of St. Cyril & Methodius Church, where she was very active in her younger years in the mother's club and many school and church activities. Jo Ann's laughter, and unselfish love for her family and friends will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
