Roberdeau Buchanan
Washington, D.C., December 20.
Roberdeau Buchanan, noted astronomer and until five years ago mathematician of the Nautical Almanac Office of the United States Naval Observatory, died at his home, 2015 Q Street Northwest Monday. Mr. Buchanan was born in Philadelphia, November 22, 1839. He was the son of Pay Director McLean [McKean] Buchanan and F. Selma Roberdeau Buchanan. In 1888 Mr. Buchanan married Miss Eliza M. Peters, daughter of Thomas Peters, of Maryland and grandniece of Judge Richard Peters, of Philadelphia, who survives him.

Astronomer. Has made calculations for the Nautical Almanac since 1879; is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (A.A.A.S.). Was a graduate with degree B.S. 1861 of Lawrence Scientific School, Harvard. Mathematician, Nautical Almanac Office, United States Naval Observations. Author of the following books:
Genealogy of the Roberdeau Family 1876, Genealogy of the Descendants of Dr. William Shippen the Elder 1877; Genealogy of the McKean Family 1890; Life of Governor Thomas McKean of Pennsylvania 1890 and Observations on the Declaration of Independence 1890.
