Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Ave. The Rev. Tom Parrott will officiate. Pallbearers are Kenneth Middle, Chad Constant, William G. and Edward E. Hughes, Virgil Smith and Robert Dilbeck. After the service, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home Community Room. Private family burial will be at the Rock Island Arsenal at a later date.

Mrs. Hughes was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of Oscar L. and Doris R. Carter Lemons. She married Jack Achor in 1951 in Indiana and later married William Edward Hughes in El Toro, Calif.
She had resided in the Muscatine area since 1996.
She had many friends at Hy-Vee where she was a food demonstrator since 1997.
She loved arts, crafts and gardening. She collected bells and loved animals, especially kittens and cats. She always put her family first and was a volunteer at the Window Box at Unity Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Edward; three sons, Jeffrey A. Achor and wife Sandra of Muscatine, Stephen W. Achor of Hawaii and Thomas E. Achor and wife Jackie of Bullhead City, Ariz.; two stepsons, Edward E. Hughes and wife Donna and William G. Hughes and wife Sandra, all of Paradise, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her mother, Doris Lemons of Muscatine; and two brothers, Jerry Lemons and wife Linda of Palm Desert, Calif., and David Lemons of Orange, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her father.
