Death of W. A. Vawter
W. A. (Uncle Bud) Vawter died at Norman, Okla., June 20th, after a short illness. The body was brought to Davis Tuesday afternoon and the funeral hour set for 5 p.m., but the funeral had to be postponed until yesterday afternoon on account of rain. The funeral was held at the home of his brother-in-law, C. A. Lyons, yesterday at 1:30 o'clock, and was conducted by Rev. J. S. Ferguson, assisted by Rev. W. J. Stewart. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery.
Mr. Vawter was born in Grayson County, Texas, April 6, 1858, making him 63 years of age at last birthday. He came to this section from Texas more than 35 years ago, and was an industrious citizen and good neighbor and had a wide acquaintance. He is survived by a wife and one son, Chas. S. Vawter of this city.

William married Mary Ellen Lyons December 15, 1880/1881 in Arkansas. There are two documents on the marriage license, one listed as 1880 and the other 1881. The 1900 census lists that they were married 19 year with 3 children but only 1 living.

The date of birth listed in the obituary and on the headstone disagree. There is also a discrepancy in the year of birth of his wife.
