MARQUES J. EVANS "MARK"
MARQUES "MARK" J. EVANS, 102, of Oceanside, Calif., formerly of New Haven, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late James and Atlanta Georgia Evans. He was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church. He retired in 1971 after 45 years with the Nickel Plate Railroad and then the N & W Railroad. He is survived by his son, James Evans of Oceanside, Calif.; daughter, Barbara Weida of Little Rock, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea, in 1990; son, Don Evans; and sisters, Mary Alice Hayes, Ruth Evans and Clovine Albrecht; and brothers, Basil Evans, Gene Evans and Harlan Evans. Service is 1 p.m. Saturday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, with calling two hours prior. The Rev. Paul Shoemaker officiating. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven.
