DEATH TAKES EFFIE ELDER

Mrs. Walter A. Elder, resident of Fairfield for the past 35 years, passed away about 7:50 p.m. last night at her home, 708 S. Fourth street. She had been ill for the past two months.

Last rites will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Effie M. Elder, 84, was born March 22, 1867, in Washington county, Iowa, the daughter of the late F. M. and Delitha Bush Curry. She was united in marriage on November 10, 1885, to Walter A. Elder who preceded his wife in death on November 26, 1937.

The couple moved to Fairfield 35 years ago from Hedrick, Iowa, and she had made her home in this community since. Mrs. Elder was a member of the Christian church.

She is survived by the following children: Fred G. Elder, Fairfield; Ed. F. Elder, at home; Mrs. Hattie Jones, Lockridge; Will H. Elder, Libertyville; Mary N. Elder, at home; George A. Elder, San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. B. F. Donohue (sic. possibly a/k/a Donahue), Ottumwa; and Clara Armstrong, at home.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Nettie Griffiths, What Cheer; Walter Curry, Des Moines; Will Curry, What Cheer; Mrs. Robert Schultz, Sigourney; Charles Curry, Delta; Mrs. Hattie Jones, Blakesburg.
