In 1771 he was appointed Counsellor and Assessor of the Town and Province of Ajaccio
Untill 1951 he was buried in the Church of Saint-Gilles in Saint Leu-la-Foret, build by order of his grandson, the Emperor Napoleon III. Having rested there for almost a century, his remains were transported to the new 'Chapelle imperiale' in Ajaccio.
