"son of Alden Arnold & Eunice. 1850 in Williams county, Ohio with parents & siblings. Civil War, 68th Ohio Infantry, company G, joined in Henry county, Ohio Dec 13, 1861. Discharged June 23, 1862 at Columbus, Ohio on surgeon's certificate of disabilty. Married July 3, 1871 in Warren county,Illinois to Waity Arnold. 1880 census in Rio, Knox county, Illinois: George D, 40, a farmer; wife Waity, 44; son Ernest G, 3, b. IL; and a ward, Mary S. Greens, 10. In Kansas State Census in Bourbon county Kansas in 1905 and 1900 in Pawnee, Bourbon county, KS George D & wife Waity R. Arnold. 1894 a member of GAR Post 272 at Cato, Crawford county, Kansas (Near Pawnee, KS) In 1910 census in Portland Oregon".

1920 Census, Portland, Multnomah Co. Oregon, he is aged 80 and living with wife Anna (aged 53, born Sweden) and her children. According to records, George Arnold died at the Old Soldiers and Sailors Home in Roseburg, Oregon. His body was returned to Portland for burial.
