She was the daughter of Commodore Daniel Patterson, a hero of the War of 1812.
On March 11, 1839, she was married to Admiral Porter at the Washington Navy Yard.

Mrs. Georgia A. Porter
Washington, December 12. Mrs. Georgia Anne Porter, the widow of Admiral Porter, died this morning at her home in this city. Mrs. Porter was seventy-four years of age and had been ill for a long time with catarrh of the stomach. She will be buried beside the body of her husband in Arlington on Friday.
Mrs. Porter leaves four sons and two daughters, Major Essex Porter, late of the Army; Captain Carlisle P. Porter, of the Marine Corps; Lieutenant Theodorick S. Porter, of the Navy; Richard Porter, Mrs. L.C. Logan, the wife of Lieutenant Commander Logan and Mrs. C.H. Campbell.
The pallbearers will be Senator Chandler, Representative Boutelle, Admirals Jouett, Almy, Upshur and Stevens, Commodores Walker and Ramsay and Major Nicholson, of the Marine Corps.
Mrs. Porter was born in New Orleans. She was the daughter of Commodore Patterson, who assisted Andrew Jackson in the defence of New Orleans and the sister of Admiral Patterson and Captain Patterson, of the Coast Survey. On March 11, 1839, she was married to Admiral Porter at the Washington Navy Yard.
