J. B. Thomas, 82, of Near Pure Air, Dead
---James Baxter Thomas, 82 years old, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter Niece, near Pure Air, last Sunday. Funeral services were conducted by Kenneth Smith at the home and burial was made in the Hannah cemetery.
---Mr. Thomas was born May 17, 1849, in Coshocton county, Ohio, near Warsaw, the son of David L. [sic] and Lucy Thomas. He was married April 13, 1871, to Margaret Elizabeth Zeigler, who preceded him in death July 29, 1926. To this union were born ten children, of which three daughters and one son survive. They are: Mrs. Belle Daniels and Mrs. Wilma Niece, of Novinger; Mrs. Edna Sykes, Kirksville, and Chester Thomas, Oklahoma City, Okla. There are also nine grandchildren and two brothers, David L., and A. J., of Higgins, Texas.
---"Uncle Jimmie," as he was known to all in the community, devoted considerable time to church work and was active in conducting funeral services. Earlier in life, he taught school for many years.
