Heinrich and Susanna came to America in 1857 with there then 4 children (Magdalena, Mathias, Catherine, and Johann) and Heinrich's mother, Joanna. From their home in Boevange sur Attert, Luxembourg, they took a train to Antwerp, Belgium. When they arrived in Antwerp, the ship was already filled to capacity and sailed without them. This was a blessing for them because it was never heard from again. They set sail on the next ship, the "John H. Elliot" and arrived in New York on July 8, 1857. From New York, they traveled west and settled in Port Washington, Wisconsin, where they had 10 more children.
