GRAPEVINE - C. W. "Bill" VanDeventer, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at his residence.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday, First United Methodist Church, Grapevine. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery, Colleyville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, J.E. Foust Funeral Home, 523 Main St., Grapevine.
Memorials: First United Methodist Church, Grapevine; or the Scottish Rite Hospital.
Mr. VanDeventer was member of the First United Methodist Church of Grapevine. He was also a 65-plus-year member of the IOOF and past master of Grapevine Lodge 288 AF&AM. Bill was a charter member of the Fort Worth Scottish Rite.
After World War II, Bill worked for B & D Mills in sales and was their poultry disease specialist. He then founded the Southlake Egg Farm. After selling the farm, Bill joined the city of Grapevine, working in various capacities, including city secretary, fire marshal and building inspector.
After retirement, he was an avid golfer and continued his lifelong love of baseball.
Survivors: Children, Charles Hunter VanDeventer and his wife, Karen of Santa Rosa, Calif., Elizabeth Ellen Hamlett and her husband, Gerry of Roanoke and John William VanDeventer and his wife, Kerry of Grapevine; grandchildren, Geremy Hamlett and his wife, Tiffany of Grapevine, Collin Hamlett of Springdale, Ark., Niles VanDeventer of Grapevine and Jordan VanDeventer of Grapevine; great-granddaughter, Lola Elizabeth Hamlett of Grapevine; sister, Inez Morrison of Bedford.
