Elizabeth Brinkerhoff Esplin, beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2002 at the age of 83 having fought the good fight and made a positive difference.

Born May 23, 1918, in Glendale, UT, the 8th of 14 children to Alonzo Riley and Louisa Anderson Brinkerhoff. Married James Stolworthy Esplin, May 19, 1944 in the St. George LDS Temple. He passed away Feb 1, 1992.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accomplished pianist, and outstanding educator. She served a mission in the southern states (1939-41), and labored with love and diligence in every church and civic calling extended to her. Selected Teacher of the Year, Duchesne County School District (1983). A gifted musician, she and her spouse played together in a dance band for more than 50 years. Elizabeth loved music and through it uplifted and brought joy to thousands of people, especially those fortunate enough to call mother and teacher.
Elizabeth is survived by her eight children, James (Tammie) Esplin, Lapoint, UT, Rendal (Jolene) Esplin, Henderson, NV, Janae (Grieg) Morrison, Heber City, UT, Reed (Paula) Esplin, Spanish Fork, UT, Velene (Brian) Allen, Salt Lake City, UT, Delane (Merrilee) Esplin, Mt. Green, UT, Jerri (Mark) Miller, Salt Lake City, UT, Vermon (Cara-Lee) Esplin, Mt. Green, UT; 37 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Shirley) Brinkerhoff, Glendale, UT; and two sisters, Bernice Malan, Verla (Keith) Iverson, both of St. George, UT.

Services will be Tues. April 30, 1 p.m., Butler 12th Ward Chapel, 2700 E. 7000 S, Salt Lake City, UT, where friends may call 90 minutes prior to the service. Interment, Wed. May 1, 2002, Orderville Cemetery, Orderville, UT. Friends in Southern Utah may call at the Glendale Ward Chapel, Glendale, UT Wed. 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

While no longer with us, Elizabeth continues to benefit the world through a legacy of love, learning and achievement that lives on in the hearts of her family, students and friends.
