Orlin Everett Ard Sr., 95, died Saturday, Sept., 12, 2009.

He was born Aug. 9, 1914, in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of Lester and Ethel (Bradford) Ard.

He moved to Elsmore, KS, when he was one. He graduated from Pittsburg State Teacher's College and served as superintendent of schools in Elsmore and Saffordville.

He worked for Beech Aircraft at Pearl Harbor during World War II. In 1948, he moved to Wichita and worked for Boeing Aircraft until his retirement as a senior supervisor.

He was a 65-year Mason and member of Scottish Rite. He was a former president of Pleasant Valley Lions Club, Boy Scouts leader and had been an active community volunteer.

He is survived by sons, Orlin "Bill" Everett Jr. and wife, Donna, Wichita, KS, and Nicholas and wife, Naomi, Maize, KS; grandchildren, Mike Ard, Melody, and husband, Blake Spurney, and Kevin Ard; sisters, Maxine Stansfield, Escondido, CA, Gladys Bertrand, Hutchinson, KS, and Wilma Rigsby, Littleton, CO; and a brother, Edgar, of Exeter, CA.

His wife of 61 years, Margaret Frances (Goyette), and sisters, Darlene Bigelow and Leona Curry, died earlier.

Services will be Friday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Wichita, KS. Graveside services will follow in Elsmore Cemetery, Elsmore, KS.

Memorials may be sent to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2258 Marigold, Wichita, KS 67204.

Cochran Mortuary, 1411 N. Broadway, Wichita, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
