In 1900 she and her parents and three siblings lived in a house they owned, mortgage free, in Clear Creek Precinct, Saunders County, NE. Her father worked as an ice laborer.

In 1910 she and her parents and five siblings lived in a house they were renting from her mother's brother Butler on a farm he was renting in the same precinct. Her father worked as a laborer, doing odd jobs, and Goldie worked as a servant for a private family.

In 1930 she and her husband and their daughter lived with her mother, her brothers Ellsworth and Theodore, and a niece, ten-year-old Marian Moffitt, in a house they were renting for $20 a month at 508 North 14th Street in Ashland, NE. They did not have a radio. Her brothers worked as laborers, doing odd jobs. (Marian had been shown as Marion, her parents' son, in the 1920 census.)

In 1940 she and Horace and their two children lived in a house they were renting for six dollars a month on Dawes Street near 19th Street in Ashland. He worked for the WPA as a laborer at a rifle range, with an income in 1939 of $240 for 24 weeks of work.
