DEATH OF MR. ROBERT F. JONES
ONE OF JENKINS COUNTY'S MOST RESPECTED CITIZENS

The death is announced of Mr. Robert F. Jones, which occurred after a short illness at his home in Herndon, Sunday, April 24th, 1910. Mr. Jones was a typical southern gentleman possessing in a marked degree many of those sterling qualities which have made his family for several successive generations one of the most notable and highly esteemed in Georgia. His distinguished father Judge Joseph B. Jones, was for many years one of the most prominent men in the legislative halls of the State a man whose large individual possessions and whose brilliant statesmanship were given freely in the interest of the public good.

Mr. Jones was about forty-three years of age and had been for many years a member of the Methodist Episcopal church South. He spent his life amid the scenes of his childhood home, and was known and loved by all classes.

His genial, kindly nature his splendid hospitality and his loyalty to the traditions of the proud old family, which he was an honored member, his devotion to his home and his unfailing charity to all mankind, won for him a coveted place in the esteem and affections of all who knew him.

His death is one that brings a distinct sense of personal loss to the entire community and hundreds of friends mingle their tears with those of his loved ones as they sit in the shadow of this great loss.

The funeral service was held at Fair Haven, the church erected by his forefathers, and at whose sacred altars four generations of the family have worshipped. The quiet dignity of the interior was aglow with the wealth of fragrant and exquisite floral tributes given in expression of the love and sympathy felt by those who counted him as friend.

Rev. T. R. Kemp, First Methodist church, Wadley, who had been pastor and close personal friend of the deceased for many years, conducted the service.

The flower laden casket containing all that was mortal of genial, loving Bob Jones, as he was familiarly called, was borne to the beautiful church yard, surrounded by broken hearted loved ones and scores of sorrowing friends, was laid reverently to rest.

His immediate family surviving him are his devoted wife and two children, a son of fourteen years and a little daughter of six. Several sisters, Mrs. M. J. Sanford, Mrs. Wm. Donovan, of Atlanta, Mrs. John R. Sharpe, of Bambridge, Mrs. Frank White, of Winston, N. C., Miss Susan Jones, of Herndon.

To these are extended the sympathy of countless friends throughout the state.
