He was born in the Red River Wisconsin area, son of the late William and Minnie (Sperberg) Cotter.
Roger entered the United States Army as an MP serving in Puerto Rico from 1945-1947.
He married Shirley Juers on September 6, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adell. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Milwaukee Brewers, and truly enjoyed carpentry work. One of his most beloved joys was traveling to his family's cabin near Mountain, which he built by hand, where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and spending his time outdoors.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley of Waldo; three children, Robert (Donna) Cotter of Madison, Jean (Charles) Flunker of Waldo, Ann Cotter of Waldo; four grandchildren, Chris (special friend, Heather) Cotter of DeForest, Sean Cotter of Platteville, Richard Flunker of Plymouth, Beth (fiancée, John Knapp) Flunker of Waldo; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Flunker of Plymouth; two sisters, Doris (John) Raymaker of Appleton and Lila Switzer of Shawano.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a beloved grandson, Daniel Flunker; 12 siblings and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Roger's wishes were to have his cremains buried in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Cascade.
