Laura Belle was the fourth of eight children born to James Knox Polk Teter and his wife Julia Ann Brammer.

She married Lonnie Overby on 20 September 1894. Laura Belle's oldest brother May was already married to Mary Daisy Overby, sister of Lonnie.

The year following Laura Belle and Lonnie's marriage, their son Elzie was born. On 10 September 1897, their daughter Lonnimae was born. Just 19 days later, Lonnie was killed in an accident while working at Watson's Coal Mine in Macon County, Missouri.

On 1 January 1902, Laura Belle married Joseph J. Quinn in Macon County, Missouri. They had two children, James Dentzil and Etolia Bernice.

In 1910, Joe and Laura Belle were living in Chariton Township with the four children and Laura Belle's widowed mother, Julia. By 1920 Joe and Laura had moved to Limon, Colorado where Joe farmed and in 1930 was a teamster with his own business.
