CARTER. At Pasadena, Cal., Maj Julius Numson Carter, born at Vergennes, Vermont, September 11, 1836; died January 23, 1916. Resident of Los Angeles from 1876 to 1893, and resident of Pasadena from 1893 to 1916.
Funeral services at the home residence, corner Mountain and Hill, Tuesday, January 25, at 2 p.m. Friends are invited. Internment, Rosedale Cemetery.

Carter, Julius M., Ovid. Entered service in company B, Fourth Cavalry, at organization as Second Lieutenant. Commissioned Aug. 13, 1862.
Mustered Aug. 28, 1862. Commissioned First Lieutenant Dec. 24, 1862. Mustered Feb. 10, 1863. Assigned to company M, April 1, 1864.
Wounded in action at Kingston, Ga., May 18, 1864. Commissioned Captain July 9, 1864. Mustered Aug. 5, 1864. Brevet Major U. S. Volunteers March 13, 1865, for gallant and meritorious services in action at Kingston, Ga. Honorably discharged on account of physical disability by S. O. No. 235, War Department, dated May 17, 1865. Residence after the war in California.
