U. Scott Hull, 78, of Brewster, died Wednesday, January 9, 1990, after a short illness in St. Lukes Hospital at Spokane.

Mr. Hull was born June 24, 1912, the son of Hiram and Bess (Newton) Hull at Okanogan, Washington. The family moved to Brooksville, Florida where he spent his youth, He was active in school and amateur athletics graduating from the Hernando County High School in 1930.

Mr. Hull moved to Brewster in 1934 where he worked for a cousin, George Wilson. In 1941, he became a rural mail carrier.

He was married to Morrell Gamble May 21, 1942 at Brewster.

During World War II he received a commission in the Army and served in Europe with the Third Armored Division. After the war, he returned to Brewster and continued as a mail carrier and later as post master for 35 years until his retirement in 1976.

Mr. Hull was actively involved in many community organizations, and was proud to have served on the Brewster School Board for 15 years, 1958-1973. He was Little League coach for many years. A member of the Community Log Church, serving on the church board. Member of the Active Club developing the city park playfield and lighting. A member of the Toastmaster Club and the American Legion Post No. 97, of Brewster.

Mr. Hull is survived by his wife, Morrell at the home; two sons, Brad of Spokane, Harvey, serving in the US Navy in Tennessee; two brothers, Basil of Florida, Wade of North Carolina; a sister, Trudy Benson of Georgia; two grandsons, Brian and Brent. He was preceded in death by his father in 1944 and his mother in 1958.

Services were held Tuesday, January 15, 1991, at 11:00 am from the Community Log Church, with Rev. Ray Glessner and Rev. Roger Hornbeck officiating. Interment at the Brewster Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post No. 97, Brewster. Memorials may be made to the Little League program in care of Ron Paslay.
