The funeral of J. D. Burns was held Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 at the Burns home. Rev. Curtis of the Methodist church, preached the sermon. Mr. Burns was a southern veteran and Co. D of the National guard attended in uniform in a body to honor his memory. He was buried with full military honors. The little Burns home was filled with friends and neighbors who deeply sympathize with the sorrowing members of the family. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery. A. B. Timmerman was in charge of the arrangements.
