Johanna was the daughter of Ola Par and Metta Anderson (Swenson) Helquist.

Johanna married Samuel Douglas Brown on January 2, 1889.

Their children: Alta Vella 1889-1956, Samuel Lavern 1891-1955, Lester Earl 1893-1982, Perry Elton 1896-1980, Ambrose Lee 1898-1976, Hazel 1901-1985, Ada Helen 1903-1933, Lillie Mae 1906-1989, Viola 1908-1993, Robert Douglas 1912-1997.

Funeral Rites Tuesday for Johanna Brown
Funeral services for Johanna Marie Helquest Brown, 87, will be conducted Tuesday at 12 noon, in the Berg Mortuary Drawing Room Chapel. Verl P. Allman, bishop of the Provo Seventh Ward will officiate. Mrs. Brown died Friday night at her home of causes incident to age. Friends may call at tiie mor tuary Monday evening from to 8 p. m., and Tuesday prior to services. Burial will be in the Mrs. Brown Provo City Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was a member o the LDS Church, being active in MEA and Relief Society for 27 years. She was married to Samuel D. Brown in January 1889, in the Manti LDS Temple. Among her survivors is a her daughter Mrs. Anton (Mae) Kodel, Provo.
