Dr W G Norman apracticing physician in Cherryvale morew than half a century died at 8am today in Mercy Hospital in Independence. He was 89.

Dr Norman whose home was at 312 W Sixth suffered a heart attack and entered the hospital Wednesday

The son of Alfred J and Lucinda Culton Norman he was born Aug 27 1872 at Logan lowa

He began his practice of medicine in Cherryvale in February 1907 and practiced here continuously with the exception of the time he was in the army during World War I

He served with the 34th Field Artillery 89th Division throughout the war and was in the army of occupation in Germany

He was married to Mrs Lida Sends at Dow City Iowa on July 12 1905 She died Dec 28 1961 Their son Frank C Sands died March 12 of this year Only survivors include a grandson William H Sands and two grea tgrandchildren Timothy C Sands and Jenifer Sue Sands all of Independence

He was a member of the American Legion and of the Cherryvale First Baptist Church where services will be at 2' 30 pm Sunday conducted by the Rev M E Jenkins pastor Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under direction of the Burns Funeral Home
