James Harmon GRACE is believed to be the son of David GRACE and Jane FOWLER GRACE. He was born about 1829 in MS (probably Copiah Co., MS). By 1850 he was in Gibson Co., TN. He married Lucy Ann TAYLOR on Nov 18, 1852 in Gibson Co., TN. They were the parents of 5 children. They made their home in the Lavinia area of Carroll Co. and the Medina area of Gibson Co., TN, with a brief time in AR just before and during the Civil War, after which they returned to the Lavinia area.

Though not mentioned in the scant surveys of this cemetery, stories persist that both James H. GRACE and his wife Lucy are buried at Hope Hill Cemetery and one family member insists that they found their tombstones, though they did not photograph them. Subsequent attempts to find the stones have met with no success.
