Harry was born 11 Jan 1851 in Lake County, Tennessee, a son of Captain William B. Isler and Peggy Meriwether. His mother died in 1857 and father was killed early in the Civil War. In 1860 he was living with his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth (Rivers) Meriwether and his Meriwether aunts and uncles. In 1870 he is living with his aunt and uncle, Dr. Ethelred Mrs. Jane (Meriwether) Westbrook. Harry practiced farming before moving to Paragould, Arkansas in 1884. In Paragould he was a bookkeeper and businessman, retiring before 1910.

About 1875 he married Miss Almina G. "Nina" Simmons, daughter of William Simmons and Aramita Burch Lanier; Harry and Nina were the parents three children, one of whom died in infancy. Nina died in Tennessee in 1883 before Harry moved the family to Paragould.

Harry died on 17 Apr 1933 from pneumonia.

Veteran Paragould Business Man Dies of Pneumonia

PARAGOULD, Ark., April 17.—Harry Bryan Ishler, 82, died at 6:20 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank B. Lane, following an illness of pneumonia. He had been in failing health for a number of years.

Mr. Ishler had been a resident of this city 48 years. He was a native of Lake County, Tenn., being the son of the late Capt. William Brown (sic) Ishler and Margaret Meriwether Ishler. He came to Paragould in 1884 two years after the town was incorporated, and with W. L. Clark operated one of the first grocery stores at the corner of Main and Second streets.

For more than 20 years he was employed as a bookkeeper for the Brinkman Stave Company, which later was known as the Pekin Company.

Mr Ishler's wife, the former Miss Nina Simmons, died before he moved to this city.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the family residence and burial will be made in Linwood Cemetery. The Rev. W. C. Davidson, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. F. B. Lane of Paragould and Mrs. E. S. Thompson of Tampa, Fla., and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
