Edited version of News Article printed in Daily Tribune, Corbin, Kentucky, in 1964:

Mrs. Mary McKeehan celebrated her ninety-ninth birthday with an open house for friends and neighbors, at her home in Highland Park, Williamsburg, Kentucky. She has lived in Williamsburg with her daughter Lida, for the past 40 years, since the death of her husband, Samuel McKeehan in 1922.

Mary d/o Lewis Meadors and Susannah Prewitt, was born and resided in Whitley County all her life and she is now the sole survivor of a family of seventeen siblings. She has had excellent health until 4 years ago, but is still able to be up part of the time; she contributes her longevity to "not worrying and not drinking coffee"

She is the mother of three daughters: the late Mrs. Susie Kidd, of London, Kentucky; Mrs. L.E. Parks (Maranda) of Corbin and Miss Lida McKeehan of Williamsburg. She is also blessed with (14) Grandchildren, 23 Great-grandchildren and (1) Grt-Great-Grandchild.

Among her 14 grandchildren is Glen Parks, son of her daughter Maranda, who is a member of the faculty of Central Elementary School and a radio announcer for WCTT, Corbin. (which makes a grandma proud!)
----------------------------
Added note: Mary Meadors McKeehan, celebrated her final Birthday in January 1965 ~ age 100 years. She died later that year, just 2 Months prior to the age of 101. Hubby Samuel, preceded her in death over 43 years earlier ~ now they both claim "New Zion Cemetery" in Whitley County as their final place of rest.. . . . . jgk

Please be advised, New Zion Cemetery and New Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery are one and the same.
