Old Saybrook - Claudia Elva Middleton Pistilli, 69, of 2 Whitney Ave., formerly of Southington passed away on Wednesday, August 13 2008 at the John Dempsey Hospital.

She was the wife of Joseph Charles Pistilli. Born November 19, 1938 in Houlton, ME, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Anna Middleton.

Claudia retired from the Town of Southington, Public Library after 28 years of service. She was an avid artist and crafter. She enjoyed cooking, baking and boating and loved to spend time at their seaside home in Old Saybrook.

Besides her husband of over 50 years, Joseph, she leaves her children; Joseph and Cheryl Pistilli of E. Hampton, Deborah Milewski and her husband Daniel of Southington and Rick and Karen Pistilli of Southington; 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Melissa, Kevin and Katie; one brother John Middleton of CO; two sisters, Sandra Pistilli of FL and Brenda Alberico of Southington and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend it's heartfelt thanks to the Cardiac Step Down Unit at the hospital for making Claudia's last hours as comfortable as possible under the difficult circumstances.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Saturday 11 a.m. until the time of the service. The family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 2572 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06518 or the Cardio Pulmonary Unit at John Dempsey Hospital, 263 Farmington Ave., Farmington, CT 06030.
