Calvin, of Wells, passed away in a local hospital. He had resided in the Wells area all his life. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a logger. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Billy Ferguson; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Priscilla Choate and Justin and Summer Choate; grandchildren, Jade Choate, Kandis Allen, Brandi Allen, Holley Choate, Calee Choate, Caleb Choate, Colby Choate, Cody Jones and Chris Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Kirby Lee Bailey of Vidor; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Betty Choate; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nell Rose and Earl Grubbs; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jill and Wendall Smith; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents Vera (Flournoy) and Calvin Carlton Choate, Sr., he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Ann Goodwin Choate.

Funeral services in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher and Brother Clayton McClendon officiating. Interment in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
