Allen L. Alspaw, Jr. 85, formerly of Council Grove, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Eskridge.
He was born May 17, 1924, to Allen and Vera (Stiver) Alspaw, Sr., at Wilsey. He attended Sunflower School and was raised on a farm near Wilsey.
He married Bernice Johns on May 20, 1951. She died June 1, 1962. He married Ida Stroda and later was divorced.
Allen moved to Eskridge in March of 1990 and has resided there since. He considered the employees at the Golden Living Center "his family". He enjoyed and loved them all.
He also enjoyed playing baseball, dancing and loved horses. He always looked forward to his brother Bill coming to see him and them spending time together.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernice, and brother Donald.
He is survived by a brother Charles W. (Bill) Alspaw and wife Kathleen of Council Grove, and a niece, Angela J. Schultz of Nickerson, and three step-nieces.
Allen was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday at Wilsey Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Living Center of Eskridge and may be sent to Penwell-Gabel, Council Grove, KS.
