Death Occurs in Rush County
Mrs. Charles E. Cassidy, 77, Succumbs After Month of Illness
Ill since October 19, Mrs. Elizabeth [Hodges] Cassidy, age 77, wife of Charles E. Cassidy and widely known in Shelby county, died at 2:30 a.m. yesterday [Wednesday, Dec 6 1939] in her home in Walker township Rush county. Her condition had been serious since November 14. She had been ill about two months and a complication of diseases caused her death.
The daughter of Fielding and Anna E. (Brown) Hodge[s], Mrs. Cassidy was married to Mr. Cassidy on October 27, 1882.
Two children were born to the union both of whom survive with the husband. They are Ova Cassidy, of Walker township and Mrs. Carl Dearinger [Lavonne E. Cassidy], of Arlington. She is also survived by four grandchildren, several relatives in Shelby county, and a brother, Sylvia Hodge[s], of Homer.
[One predeceased son Oren Cassidy and three siblings, Alfred Marion, Dora and Mary A.]
She was an active member of the Christian Union church at Homer, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday [Dec. 8, 1939] with the Rev. George W. Winfrey, of Alexandria, officiating. Burial will be made at East Hill Mausoleum at Rushville, in charge of Esra Carmony, funeral director.
