He was married to Annie Bowers, and was also married to Eva Madelin (Benson) Bowers.
He died in the U.S. Naval Hospital in Philadelphia.
His last place of residence was in Newport, Pennsylvania.
He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on January 16, 1943.
