M.E. Blood, a prominent farmer of the Shafer community, died at his home 3 miles west of there at 11:15 am Wednesday morning, Nov 1. Mr. Blood had been ill for only a few days with stomach trouble which later developed into an infection which caused his unexpected end. He was 60 years of age.

Last rites were held over the remains at the M. E. Church of Taylors Falls, Saturday afternoon with rev. F. Williams of that congregation officiating. Pallbearers were: W. I. Dibble, Arthur Wiberg, A. V. Slattengren, Charles Fridlund, Oscar T. Nelson and L. R. J. Brouwer. Interment was made at Kahbakong Cemetery there.

Markus Everett Blood, was born in Ripon, WI February 18, 1873 and moved with his parents when he was at the age of 2 years to Renwick, IA. It was at the latter place that he spent his early childhood and school days. In 1897 he was joined in marriage to Miss Nettie R. Stolp and then moved to Lake Wilson, Minnesota, the same year. He farmed there for 14 years. While at that place one son and 4 daughters were born to the couple. Later they moved to Ivanhoe, MN and then to a farm near Shafer in 1919 where they have since lived.

Surviving are his wife, 4 daughters, the Misses Lydia and Belle Blood residing at the home farm, Miss Emma Blood of Sales, ND and Mrs. J. S. Webster of Mississippi, one son Ralp0h Blood of the home farm, 2 sisters, Miss Emma B. Blood and Mrs. Carrie Yourdon of Taylors Falls and 1 brother H. E. Blood who also resides at the home farm at Shafer.

Mr. Blood has been a member of the M. E. Church of Taylors Falls since 1916. He also had membership in the Woodsman Lodge of Lake Wilson and took part in other branches of activity locally. Many relatives of Minneapolis and friends of North Dakota attended the funeral rites.
