George F. Lincoln Hawke was the eighth of eleven known children born to Martha Eleanor (DeLong) and William John Hawk of Mercer, Mercer County, PA. For 55 years George was in the tailoring business in Grove City, and after taking his retirement was caretaker of the Washington School for a short time.

He married Julia Cornelius and between them had seven children all born in the Mercer County area. He and Julia were married for 60 years and lived most of that time in Grove City.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Grove City and had been affiliated with the I.O.O.F. and Knights of Pythias Lodges of Grove City, and the Modern Woodmen of the World.

At the time of his death he left four children, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was widely known and esteemed.
