Mark Leroy "Roy" Self,82, was born August 2, 1907 in Thalia, Texas, a son of Mark and Betty May Pigg Self. He passed away May 6, 1990 in Vernon, Texas. He was a member of the Thalia Church of Christ. Roy was a farmer and enjoyed tinkering and building things. He collected Indian arrowheads and other historical artifacts. He was a student of history and agriculture. Roy never married and lived with and cared for his mother in her later years. He was a good man, a loyal son and brother and a wonderful neighbor. He spent many years using a cane and later a walker as he had accidentally shot off a leg in an accident when he was a young man of 45. He is survived by a sister, Grace Mason and number of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Maggie Capps.
