"Lorenzo, only son of Hans and Sarah Hayer, was reared to manhood on the farm where he was born, moving to an adjoining farm at his marriage, where he resided until 1902, when in February of that year he with his family removed to Lamoni (Iowa), where he thereafter resided.
"Deceased was in his early manhood baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, to which faith he was true to the end. He served his fellows as a priest in the ministry of the church for many years. In the community too, as well as in the church, his hand was always set to some good work. For some years he served as one of the Lamoni town council. In community and church work alike, he was ever free with both time and means."
