Hazel L. Deskins, 96, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at the Village Manor in Abilene.
She was born Jan. 20, 1913, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Arthur M. and Rachel Martha (Stanley) Brown. Growing to womanhood in Jordan, Mont., she attended local schools.
On Sept. 1, 1932, she married Edward "Bill" Deskins in Vale, Ore. For 45 years, they made their home in Lyndon, where she was employed by a dress shop until moving to Abilene in 1990. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1998. She had been a member of the Wesleyan Church. Survivors include her two daughters, LaVerne Terres of Abilene and Kathy A. Farwell of Lawrence; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Deskins was cremated. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, from the Danner Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Vandenburg officiating. Inurnment with her husband Bill will follow in the Abilene Cemetery.
