HAMLIN, Sybil I. age 83 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2004 at the North Central Medical Center in McKinney, TX after a short illness. She was born April 7, 1921 in Aitkin, MN, daughter of the late Ernest & Mary (Anderson) Berlien. She was a retired school teacher from the Waterford School District and was a longtime member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church, Vandalia Senior Citizens and the Piqua Flying Club. She was preceded in death by her husband John Hamlin in 2003; 2 sons, Frank, Arthur and Vincent; 1 grandson, Keith. Sybil is survived by 1 daughter, Storm Tate of TX; 1 son, Douglas Slavin of FL; 2 step-daughters, Ann Uhrig of CO and Carol Hulser of TN; 1 brother, Clarence Berlien of MT; 1 sister, Dorothy Peterson of WI; 7 grandchildren, Paul, Chris, & Gwendolyn Slavin, Elizabeth and Corrbett Tate, John & Tim Uhrig; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr, Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. Burial Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 pm until time of service. Arrangements by Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
