SANFORD HISTORIAN - Paul Robie:
*****************************
Samuel was originally interred in one of the oldest cemeteries in Sanford, located at the corner of Main and Roberts Streets.
Reason for re-interment was to construct
a municipal building on that site.
When they exhumed his remains, nothing
was to be found as it had turned to ashes.
When a person is not actually buried in Oakdale cemetery, there is no card in the caretakers office.
His stone is to the right of Joanna's and is inscribed with his initials only. (very faint). Their stones were removed from the old burial site to make room for the building.
