Evon Darlene Leopold Buchanan, sixty-three years of age, passed away on August 28, 2009.

She was born and raised on the family farm in a small community known as the Bonne Idee. She attended Johnson Elementary School and was a 1965 graduate of Union High School in Mer Rouge. She furthered her education by attending Southern University.

The summer of 2007, she retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System after twenty-five years of service. She remained active in the lives of children by serving in the children's nursery at church.

She is survived by her father Roosevelt Leopold Sr; two daughters, Alexis Milliken and Rosailyn Buchanan Dixon (Patrick); four sisters, Golden Leopold Dade (George), Rosie Leopold Sanders, Ada Leopold George (Ricky), and Shirley Leopold Beeks (Antone); two brothers, Roosevelt Leopold Jr (Mildred) and Marshall Leopold (Wyletta); two granddaughters, Brittany Dixon and Sierra Dixon; and a great-grandson, Caden Lusk.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Bluford Leopold; her husband, Roosevelt Buchanan; her significant other, Johnny Milliken; a son, Jonathan Milliken; two sisters, Mary Leopold Pondexter and Melon Leopold Irving; and a niece, Artrician M George.
