Betty J. Kirshman, 81, of Columbus died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Kirshman was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Business and Professional Women's Association and American Business Women. She also had served on the board of the Bartholomew County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

She and her husband were former owners of Eastside Equipment and she had worked in numerous offices in Columbus, including the former B&B Shoes.

She was a 1939 graduate of Columbus High School and a graduate of Indiana Business College.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Steve Russell officiating. Calling will be from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Kirshman was born April 29, 1921, in Columbus, the daughter of Robert Dale and Helen V. Gilmore Harden. She married Eugene Kirshman April 19, 1943, at First Christian Church. He died August 19, 1973.

Survivors include a son, Terry Kirshman of Columbus; a daughter, Vicky Williams of Pittsboro; and a grandson, Jeffrey Williams of Pittsboro.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Harden.
