LoVona Myrle Bartley, oldest daughter of Lester and Ruth Barnett, was born October 6, 1913, in Jewell County.

She was united in marriage to Glenn E. Bartley and to this union four children were born, Glendolyn Myrle, Glenda Lee, Glenn, Jr. and Gail.

In 1945 they moved to the farm northwest of Ionia where they raised their family. LoVona was a member of the Ionia United Methodist Church, a faithful servant of God, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was always ready to help any neighbor. One of her greatest joys was watching their children and grandchildren grow and participate in music, academic and sports activities.

LoVona was initiated into the Rebekah Lodge in Ionia. She was active in all community activities, the school, the American Red Cross, the Cancer Society and was an inspirational Sunday School teacher for years.

She loved the out-of-doors and enjoyed caring for her many flowers.

LoVona was preceded in death by her mother and father and was called Home on February 9, 1977, to prepare a place for her devoted husband, Glenn, her children, Glendolyn Myrle and Roger Gregg, Theron and Thadean, Glenda Lee and Darrell Thayer, Ronnie and Bruce, Glen, Jr. and Rose and Steve, and Gail. She also leaves her sister, Evelyn Manchester, and brother, LeRoy Barnett, other relatives and a multitude of friends.

Funeral services were held February 11, 1977, at 10:00 a.m., in the Ionia United Methodist Church with Rev. Sidney Dillinger officiating. Music was furnished by Margaret Rose. Casket bearers were Glenn Schmidt, Rolla Dietz, Wilbur Obert, Harold Shoemaker, Maurice Simmelink and Jennings Borger; honorary members were Glenn Kincheloe and Cecil Hillman. Interment was in Ionia Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home, Mankato, was in charge of arrangements.
