Mr. Robert Crawford of Rhea's Mill, familiarly known as "Uncle Bob" one of the oldest residents of Washington County, having come here when the state was a territory, fell into the fire on Christmas Day and was so badly burned that he died from his injuries the Saturday following the accident. The old man got up in a chair to wind a clock and losing his balance fell into the fire place and remained in the fire until a child gave the alarm to a man in the yard who ran in and pulled him out. He was 84 years old and was very highly respected.
