Mrs. Barbara L. Baker, age 89, died Wednesday evening January 19th, at 10:00 - o'clock at her home near Woodsfield following a long illness.
She was born February 8 1865, near Lewisville, a daugter of Jacob and Lena Reischman.
Surviving: are eight children, Isadore and Sylvester Burkhart of the home; Mrs. Teresa Kahrig. Woodsfield; Mrs. Lena Bischoff and Mrs. Lorena Norris, of Woodsfield, Route 2; Mrs. Hannah Williamson of Bellaire; Mrs. Josephine Schneider and Mrs. Marie Harts, born of Woodsfield; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Burkhart, of Barnesville, and Mrs. Anna Harper, of Cambridge; 19 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren and one great-great- grandaughter, Alice Roth.
Her first husband, Martin Burkhart, died in February, 1893.
She later married George Baker, who died In. 1935. One daughter, Mrs. Matilda Froehlick, also preceded her in death in 1920.
Funeral services were held at ten o'clock Saturday morning at St. Sylvester's Church, with the Rt. Rev Msgr. J. G. Mehler officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with the Schumacher Funeral Home in charge. (Spirit of Democracy 1/29/1955)
